San Andreas, Ca — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning for Northern California due to the low humidity, high temperatures and gusty winds expected through Thursday evening.
?We´re asking everybody to be very cautious, because the vegetation is extremely dry,? says Lisa Williams, Information Officer for the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.
Statewide, over 1.3 million acres have burned this year. CAL Fire is placing additional firefighters on duty, staffing extra fire engines and keeping more equipment on call 24 hours a day.
Williams adds that residents should use common sense by not driving into dry grass or brush, as exhaust pipes and mufflers can start fires. Also, before starting a campfire, make sure that you are in a legal area and have a permit. Afterwards, ensure that your campfire is properly extinguished.
