Columbia, Ca — PG&E has issued an emergency shutdown for the Columbia Ditch area of the Main Canal.
The company discovered an obstruction of the flow of water in a 30 inch pipe flume at the ditch yesterday afternoon. The Columbia Ditch area affected is located by Old Oak Ranch in the Big Hill area. PG&E spokesperson Scott Fee, said ?We will be stopping the flow just above the Old Oak Ranch area on Friday, September 19th so that we can find out what is blocking the water flow.?
TUD customers along the Columbia and San Diego ditches will notice a lowering of water flow starting today and may be out of water tomorrow while work is being conducted.
?We encourage our customers to be aware of this situation if they rely on those ditches for water supply; be prepared for a water outage,? says Lisa Westbrook, TUD Customer Service Supervisor. ?PG&E will be keeping us informed once they locate the obstruction and clear the water flow.?
