Sonora, Ca — The final cost to construct T.U.D.´s new Monte Grande Treatment Plant is $700,000 more than the original estimate.
?Originally it was just intended to serve the community of Monte Grande,? says Tom Scesa, T.U.D. District Engineer. ?With the recent acquisition of the Curtis Creek Ranch and the potential to serve the people of Soulsbyville, we went through a significant redesign and expanded the plant considerably.?
The project was originally estimated to cost a little over $500,000, but the final price is now closer to $1.2 million.
Scesa says that another major factor in the increased final bill is the escalating cost of building materials.
Over half of the $1.2 million will be covered by a state grant, the remaining will be paid over time by T.U.D. and its customers.
