Sonora, Ca — Sierra Outdoor School in Sonora has been selected to receive a 1.3 kilowatt solar generated power system, valued at $25,000.
25 schools from across the state were chosen through a program organized by the San Francisco Academy of Sciences and Pacific Gas and Electric.
?We´re really looking forward to it, because our mission is to take kids out into the forest and teach them about the environment,? says Michael Olenchalk, Director of the school. ?We´re also a great platform to talk about alternative sources of energy, be it products from the forest or using sun.?
Olenchalk says that the solar generation system will likely be installed next Spring.
