Bass Continues To Lead In District One Supervisorial Race

Sonora, CA — When all the “vote by mail” ballots were counted Friday Tuolumne County Distict One Supervisor Liz Bass had increased her vote count over Challenger Randy Selesia by a half a dozen but her percentage lead had actually been reduced.

When the polls closed Bass had accumulated 2,300 votes (51.91%) to Selesia´s 2,109 (47.6%). By Friday Bass´ vote count jumped to 2,562 (51.76%) to Selesia´s 2,365 (47.78).

Still to be counted are 654 provisional ballots. Provisional ballots are those that may have been dropped off at a polling location other than the location that had been designated to a voter. A provisonal ballot could also belong to an individual who registered at the very last moment and his/her name did not make it into the system in time.

A week from Friday Elections Official Debi Russell is hopeful of starting a one percent manual handcount of ballots from selected precincts. The final results will then be presented to the five supervisors for their approval. Once that is accomplished the official final results will be sent to Sacramento.
