Judge Rules In Favor Of West Point Fire Over Tax Collection

West Point, Ca — The West Point Fire Protection District has scored a legal victory over collection of a tax assessment approved by voters in 2007.

Judge John Griffin has ruled that the group entitled Concerned Citizens for Responsible Government failed to prove that the small Calaveras County fire district did anything wrong when it began collecting the additional tax money.

The organization argued that the measure is illegal, as it places fees on some land that is already under the jurisdiction of CAL Fire.
