Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department is asking for help in locating a dog and its owner.
On Saturday, November 29 at approximately 11:20 am, a subject was bitten by a dog in the parking lot of the Tuolumne County Library.
The victim was walking through the parking lot of the library when he noticed a dog in the back of a pick-up. When the victim reached into the bed of the pick-up to pet the dog, the dog bit the victim´s right hand.
The owner of the dog is not “wanted,” as the victim stated the dog was legally tethered in the back of the truck. However the Sonora Police Department does need to locate the dog´s owner to confirm the dog has had its rabies vaccination.
The dog is described as being large in size, brown in color with some black, with short hair. The four to five year old dog was in the bed of a medium size white pick-up. The dog and its owner are thought to frequent the area of the library and park.
If you have any information regarding this dog or its owner, contact the Sonora Police Department immediately at (209) 532-8141.
