Jamestown & San Andreas, CA — According to C.H.P. officers in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties there was not a single fatality over the Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period.
During the 102 hour period from 6pm Christmas Eve through Sunday midnight, there were a number of non-serious accidents (mostly spinouts from ice and snow) in Tuolumne County. According to Officer Tom Wills there was only one arrest recorded for an individual driving-under-the-influence.
In Calaveras County Officer Rebecca Meyers reports there were four non-serious accident with six motorists being arrested for driving-under-the-influence.
Meyers adds that the greatest problem proved to be vehicles accessing county roads without chains. That, in itself, caused backups and numerous delays.
