Bear Valley Snowmobile Accident Leads To DUI Arrest

Bear Valley, CA — 28-year old Sarma Turaids received major injuries Friday during a snowmobile accident on Bear Valley Road.

The CHP says Turaids of Los Altos was driving a snowmobile at too high a rate of speed to negotiate an approaching curve in the trail. The snowmobile ran off the trail and into a tree. Turaids and her passenger 30-year old Frederik Hermann of Germany were thrown from the vehicle upon impact.

A low hanging branch struck Turaids in the face causing major facial trauma. The branch also struck Hermann who received minor injuries.

Turaids was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was then released to the custody of Doctor´s Medical Center.

Neither occupant wore a helmet at the time of the collision.
