State Fire Department To Be Known As CAL FIRE

Sonora, CA — The CDF and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will now be known simply as CAL FIRE.

While it will not be noticed immediately, Tuolumne County Fire Marshall Kary Hubbard says,As they start to replace engines and equipment, you will start seeing things change to CAL FIRE.”

Even though the terminology is changing, the mission will stay the same. CAL FIRE will continue its effort to provide the same emergency services to California residents.

The name alteration was implemented by the California State Assembly this past session.
