Sacramento, CA — State Senator Dave Cogdill has mixed reviews about a new water bill package introduced by Senate Democrats.
In a statement, Cogdill says “I am very excited and encouraged that the Senate Democrats finally agree that our water system is in need of immediate attention. I look forward to working with them on our common goal to secure a reliable, high-quality water supply for California.”
Cogdill continues by saying, “The Senate Democrats´ overall plan, however, relies too heavily on conservation, water use efficiencies and groundwater storage.” Cogdill is among a group of Senators who have introduced a competing bill, SB-59, that includes additional emphasis on surface storage.
Cogdill says, “Because of the critical nature of our water needs, it would be irresponsible to take any legitimate ideas, such as surface storage, off the table.”
Cogdill represents six counties, including Tuolumne.
