Stanford Medical Center, CA — The planned Thursday noon surgery to replace Bryce Daniel Milnick´s heart was delayed until Thursday evening at 6pm.
Thursday afternoon a heart was harvested and surgical team members determined it to be in perfect condition. Doctors stated that the surgery would take from six to 10 hours at the Stanford Medical Center.
Bryce was born in November with a hypoplastic left heart syndrome birth defect.
Bryce´s parents, Danny and Erin, are former Sonora residents. They now make their home in Merced.
At last count more than 150 Mother Lode residents had donated blood through the restoration program established by Phlebotamist Karen Gray of the Delta Blood Bank in Sonora. Donations can still be made in Bryce´s name. Monetary donations may be made at Sierra Bible Church.
