February 09, 2007 at 06:49 PM PST – PRAYER REQUESTS FOR BRYCE
It has now been over 48 hours since Bryce was removed from the ecmo circuit (heart/lung machine) and he is still doing well with his new heart beating on its own. Once most of the swelling has gone down, the surgeons will be doing another biopsy and then closing his chest this weekend. They are saying that his risk of infection as a result of his chest being open this long and with very extreme immunosuppresant medication (medication that wipes out his immune system so that it won´t reject the new heart) is very, very high. Please be praying specifically that the Lord would protect and preserve his body from any infections or damage during this recovery time, and that the chamber pressures in his heart would come down allowing the heart muscle to relax.
