Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors has written an open letter to the Federal Trade Commission asking for answers to questions about the sale of the east Sonora Albertson´s Store.
In the document, it states that, “It has come to our attention that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) directed that this store be removed from the proposed sale of the grocery stores between Albertson´s and Save Mart. We are seeking clarification if the FTC did indeed request the deletion of the east Sonora store from the escrow.”
The letter continues by stating,The loss of this store has had a financial impact on the community. Sixty-five employees are facing unemployment. We would like to know if the FTC requested that this store not be included in the sale and if there is any opportunity to reverse this decision.”
An Albertson´s spokesperson has declined comment on the details of why the store was pulled from the Save Mart package.
