Jamestown, CA — Late Monday night, a Jamestown man led CHP on a high speed chase.
At 11:25am, Officers began pursuing 23 year old Devan Spraggins at Seco Street near Preston Lane. Spraggins got away, however, officers were able to get his license plate numbers.
The CHP and Sheriff´s Department later went to Spraggins residence off of Golden Dove Dr. As soon as they arrived, the Sheriff´s Department received a call about a robbery taking place at the Chip´s Chevron Station in Jamestown.
It was later found that the robbery was a false alarm.
Officers were able to go into Spraggins residence and apprehend the suspect. CHP Officer Tom Wills says that further investigation found that Spraggins had made the 911 call. He was hoping officers would divert their attention over to the Chevron station.
Spraggins was booked into Tuolumne County Jail. He faces charges of felony evading, driving with a suspended license and for calling in a fake 911 report.
