Stockton, CA — A woman who allegedly embezzled $20,000 from the Calaveras County Water District has been arrested.
It all began when the district hired the woman, 27-year old Dashanna Reed, through a temp agency. Calaveras investigators say Reed soon opened a fraudulent account using CCWD business information.
Wednesday Reed was arrested at her Stockton home and every item she purchased was recovered. There were such items as an installed dishwasher, laptop computer, an Xbox, barbecue and refrigerator.
Reed is in San Joaquin County Jail for charges of embezzlement, fraudulent use of an access card and identity theft. Since Reed made many of the purchases through the mail she now faces federal charges as well.
