San Andreas, CA — 36 year old Mark Sakata and 38 year old Kelly Springle, both of Glencoe, were killed Monday afternoon in a single vehicle accident on Hwy 26 west of Rabbits Foot Rd.
According to the C.H.P. report Sakata was observed driving recklessly as he left the Academy Bar in West Point. He was then spotted in the Sandy Gulch Medical Center parking lot apparently in search of someone. Sakata then spotted Springle and stopped. They became embroiled in an agument. Springle then entered the car.
As Sakata rounded a curve he lost control of his 2000 Ford and skidded off the right edge of the roadway. The roof of Sakata´s car landed against a tree fatally injuring Springle. Sakata was air-lifted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto where he succumed to his injuries.
The C.H.P. reports that Sakata´s alcohol blood content will be evaluated.
The fatalities are the second and third of the year in Calaveras County. Saturday 53 year old Michael Baumann of San Andreas was killed in a motorcycle accident on Mountain Ranch Rd.
