Jamestown, Ca — Moving the historic Jamestown Jail is taking a little bit longer than originally expected.
“Half of the brick on the jail has been removed,” says committee member Jim O´Neil. While that was being removed they basically uncovered a lot of dry rot. A builder and a contractor determined that it needed to be fixed and reinforced before they could move it.”
The jail is currently located on the property of a theme park in Pollardville, Ca. The dismantling process began just over a week ago.
O´Neil says that on May 5, volunteers will re-start the process of taking the jail a part brick-by-brick. He says he is optimistic it will arrive in Jamestown around the middle of May.
