Tuolumne, Ca — Relay for Life events will be held in two Mother Lode communities Saturday.
The 10th annual Relay for Life of Tuolumne County begins at 10am at the Summerville High School Track.
“We will have a national speaker by the name of Heidi Marbles opening up our Survivor Ceremony at 9:30pm,” says committee member Jen Long.Heidi is a survivor of a rare form of breast cancer. She is an author, artist, marathon runner and a very dynamic woman.”
Participants form teams that walk around the track for 24 hours. Each team is asked to have at least one member on the track at all times. Before the event, the teams go out and solicit pledges and donations.
The 5th annual Relay for Life of Calaveras County begins at 9:50am at Bret Harte High School.It starts with an opening ceremony,” says committee member Melissa Johnson.We will have doves released, and a flyover which will kick off our relay.”
Organizers of both events are encouraging all members of the community to stop out and visit.
