Sonora, Ca — Tuolumne County is making an extra effort to keep soon-to-be former employees of Tuolumne General Hospital on the county payroll.
Today, the Board of Supervisors was asked by county staff to allow a one-time waiver of the minimum qualifications of TGH employees when applying for work.
“Because of how quickly things are happening, I would like to have this one time ability to extend these one time waivers,” said CAO Craig Pedro. If the shoe fits, and we apply the rule, the individual would be placed on an eligibility list and would still be subject to the same kind of testing, interviews and those types of things.”
The waiver does not guarantee anyone employment. Pedro said that the hiring decision would still be at the discretion of the department head. Pedro also noted that the waiver would apply to years of experience, but not for specific degrees, certificates or licenses required for a position. The motion passed 5-0.
