Columbia, CA — The new Columbia Elementary campus is enough to make any “high techie” drool.
With the use of a laptop computer, a DVD and a projection unit, science and math instructor Dan Doane is embarking on a totally new teaching career. His students can now be taken on a virtual visual odyssey which includes textbooks, maps, DVD´s, the internet and even video conferencing.
Doane admits it´s an entirely new way to teach. In the past, learning has basically consisted of memorization. Now the key to learning is the ability to access the incredible amount of information that is available on the internet.
Friday marked the official dedication of Columbia´s new $24.2 million campus. This week students are starting to move into the classrooms and they are doing it with smiles on their faces.
