Sonora, CA — Thanks to the generosity of two local non-profits, Christmas has truly come early for Tuolumne County Special Olympics.
The Black Hat Foundation selected Special Olympics to be the recipient of its fundraising efforts this year and rewarded the Tuolumne County group with a $30,000 check.
Sonora Area Foundation then stepped in and added $10,000 to the total for the county´s developmentally disabled.
Overwhelmed would be a conservative estimate to guage Area Director Sabrina Harwell´s reaction when she received the two checks. Stated Harwell; “We are so blessed with these funds. Now we can really build the program and hopefully make inroads with the public schools to have their developmentally disabled students join our program.”
Tuolumne County Special Olympic athletes participate in soccer, indoor floor hockey, basketball, volleyball, track and field, aquatics and bowling.
