San Andreas, CA — In addition to a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of Angels Camp Police Officer Jared Poortinga, two more wrecks took place on Calaveras roads.
The CHP says on Friday, 54-year old Michael O´Rourke of Santa Rosa received a fractured skull and collarbone after being ejected from his 2002 Harley. O´Rourke was driving on Highway 4 near Pool Station Road when, due to his intoxication, he was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. He skidded across the road and was ejected onto the dirt shoulder. Orourke was arrested for misdemeanor DUI then flown to Memorial Hospital where he is now listed in fair condition.
And on Saturday, 26-year old Andrew Kovach of San Lorenzo also lost control of his 2006 Harley on Highway 4 near Pool Station Road. The CHP says Kovach was going too fast into a curve when his front tire ran off the roadway causing him to lose control. The bike struck an embankment and he was ejected. He received road rash and complained of abdominal pain.
