Murphys, CA — The comments so far have been positive after a 100 mile bike ride that brought roughly 2,000 riders from all over the state to Calaveras County this weekend.
This was the first time the Sierra Century bike ride was held in Calaveras and the Sacramento Wheelmen bicycling club says it is looking forward to next year.
The CHP presence was strong making sure riders were safe traveling on some of the smaller county roads.
The route took riders from Murphys to West Point and back and incorporated several county roads.
Input from the riders on the Wheelmen´s website is positive. Most riders, did however, complain about the roughness of Dogtown Road.
Supervisor Steve Wilensky, who represents the area, says it was a worthy event and a boost for the local economy.
