San Andreas, Ca — Twice a year, CHP offices conduct a DUI checkpoint to crack down on drunk driving.
On Saturday night, one was conducted in downtown San Andreas between the hours of 7-11:30pm.We screened 466 vehicles,” says Officer Jamie Castillo.Five sobriety tests were given, and of those five, two were arrested for driving under the influence.”
Castillo says he is pleased with the low number, but says having zero would make the CHPecstatic.” The funding to conduct the checkpoint comes from a federal grant to reduce drunk driving.
