Sonora, Ca — A significant warm-up is expected in the Mother Lode by the Fourth of July.
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures will easily exceed the century mark in many areas. Readings could approach 110 degrees in the warmer spots by Thursday and Friday.
The NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun for extended periods, avoid strenuous tasks, check on elderly relatives and neighbors, and don´t forget to protect pets from the heat.
