San Andreas, CA — A golf course that was built for private use is now going to the Calaveras County Planning Commission for approval to go public.
When developer Mike Nemee first started grading his acreage near Ospital Road he assured his neighbors he was building a private golf course for his own use.
Now officials are being asked to sign off on a draft Environmental Impact Report for a proposed lodge and a 13-home gated community.
The 280-acre project is called the Ridge at Trinitas and is located near Highway 26 and Ospital Road.
A 45-day public comment period on the draft document began July 10 and ends on August 27.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the project at 9 a.m. September 20 at the Government Center in San Andreas.
