San Andreas, CA — A public meeting will be held this evening at five o´clock to discuss the San Andreas Sanitary District´s plans to expand and upgrade the sewage treatment plant.
According to the Stockton Record district directors placed a moratorium on new sewer connections a year ago. They wanted to complete studies on the expenditure to bring the plant into compliance with state regulations. In addition, directors wanted to study the increase in service demand.
Prior to the freeze, a connection fee was $4,500. Currently the county is charging $20,500 per residence.
Sewer rates that had been $25 a month have now more than doubled to $54 a month.
