San Andreas, Ca — The Calaveras County Narcotic Enforcement Unit recently eradicated two marijuana gardens that had a combined 19,000 plants.
12,000 plants were found near the Esperanza Creek area near Jesus Maria Rd. A second garden, in the area of Gwen Mine Rd. between Mokelumne Hill and Paloma, had over 7,000 plants. The Sheriff´s Department believes that both were the work of a large drug trafficking organization.
The Sheriff´s Department reports that the marijuana eradicated would have had a combined street value of $57 million. Both gardens were discovered during routine flyovers. The Calaveras County Narcotic Enforcement Unit has seized and destroyed over 21,000 marijuana plants since June of 2007.
