Columbia, Ca — Columbia State Historic Park has received a $10,000 donation to help fund additional staffing and programs for the busy tourist season.
The donation, from the Friends of Columbia Sate Historic Park, allows the park to fund a part-time interpretive position. The money helps the park allow daily town tours throughout the summer and extend the hours of the museum when the park is busy. The contribution doubles the state allocation for seasonal staffing.
The money will also assist staff in presenting Columbia´s History Mysteries program, the Back to School 1861 program, and the Your Park Junior Rangers program.
The funding is in addition to the $40,000 that the Friends of Columbia donates throughout the year to help the volunteer and school programs, as well as exhibit improvements and interpretive offerings.
