San Andreas, Ca — When Calaveras County Administrator Tom Mitchell steps down on October 12th, he may have an interim successor.
The County Chair of the Board of Supervisors, Bill Claudino, says one option being discussed is whether to hire a retired/semi-retired county administrator to come in for the short term.
“I already have a short list of those who could, and would be willing to come to our county,” says Claudino. “I would prefer that we hire someone from the outside as an interim. Also, I´d like to see the interim in there in time to take over some of the projects that Mr. Mitchell has started, and be part of the recruitment effort for a permanent CAO.”
One of the conditions that Claudino would like to have included, is that the interim CAO is not eligible for the permanent position. He says the Board of Supervisors will likely decide on whether it would like to hire a short-term administrator within the next few weeks.
