Sonora, Ca — Two Sierra Pacific tour buses, carrying approximately 70 students with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fremont, became tangled up on Hwy 108 this afternoon at the Soulsbyville Rd. intersection.
According to the CHP, the first bus made a stop at the signal, and the second bus, for unknown reasons, crashed into the back of the first bus.
A number of those involved were taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center.
“What we know at this time, is that we have eight female patients that have presented here at the Emergency Room,” says Gail Witzlsteiner of Sonora Regional. “One of those is an adult, and the rest teenagers.”
The conditions of those injured are not immediately known.
The other students have been transported to the Willow Springs Community Center. The accident occurred just after 1pm.
