Sonora, Ca — The Sonora Office of the CHP will be setting up a Check Point this Saturday night at an undisclosed location and time.
It will be designed to catch the DUI driver, as well as those driving with a suspended license. The Check Point is the second of several planned this summer. Officer Tom Wills says that at a recent Check Point, 16 drivers were cited for unlicensed driving, as well as a few who were driving under the influence.
Wills notes that the CHP will also have Drug Recognition Technician Officers on duty during these operations to evaluate drivers under the influence of illegal and prescription drugs.
The CHP advises that if you are going to drink an alcoholic beverage at a party or while enjoying the outdoors, that you designate a driver before the planned event.
