Distressed Hikers Rescued This Morning

Sonora, CA — Thanks to the combined forces of the Tuolumne County Sheriff Department´s Search and Rescue team and the CHP, two hikers were rescued this morning.

Thursday evening the Sheriff´s Department received word there were two distressed hikers in the area between Chewing Gum Lake and Crabtree Meadows. Deputies and Search and Rescue Team members searched until darkness.

This morning a CHP helicopter spotted the hikers in the area of Bear Lake. The hikers were picked up and transported to their vehicle.

Neither was in need of any immediate medical attention.
