San Andreas, Ca — The Calaveras County Public Health Department will begin holding flu vaccination clinics on Monday.
“Many people do not consider flu a serious illness,” says County Health Officer Dr. Dean Kelaita. “But even in a normal flu season, it causes 36,000 deaths a year in the U.S. and more than 200,000 hospitalizations.”
Kelaita says the vaccine is recommended for adults over the age of 50, children between the ages of six months and five years, persons with chronic medical conditions, women who will be pregnant during the flu season and healthcare workers.
A fee of $0 – $13 is based on family size and income. Medicare is accepted. Additional information is available by calling the Calaveras County Public Health Department at 754-6460.
