Yosemite, Ca — The non-profit Yosemite Fund is stepping in and providing emergency funds to replace a popular pedestrian and bicycle bridge in the Yosemite Valley.
The bridge across Yosemite Creek is used by hundreds of visitors each day, and was recently condemned after the deck was found to be completely rotted.
“The decision to get involved with this project was easy because it is a pure safety issue,” says Yosemite Fund Communications Manager Karl Kroeber. “This bridge is essential for getting people from one part of the Valley to another without getting them in contact with the road traffic that is directly adjacent on a separate bridge.”
Work on the new $434,000 bridge is expected to be completed early next year.
