San Andreas, CA — According to CHP Officer Mike Maddox excessive speed, given the current weather conditions, resulted in the Tuesday morning traffic death of 26 year old Dierdre Donovan Blood on Parrotts Ferry Rd. near Moaning Caves Rd.
Blood was traveling southbound at 9:55am when she proceeded around a large sweeping curve that was wet and slick from recent rain. Blood´s 2000 Toyota Corolla collided with a 2005 Cadillac driven by 31 year old Michael Tipon of Standard.
Blood was employed by the Calaveras County Department of Behavioral Health. She leaves behind two children.
Maddox cautions motorists to especially drive very carefully after the season´s initial rains because oil will come to the surface of the asphalt and settle on top of any water on the pavement.
Blood´s death marks the 17th Calaveras County traffic related fatality this year and the third in the last five days.
