Bear Valley, Ca — More and more children are wearing helmets when they hit the slopes to ski or snowboard according to a new study conducted by Bear Valley Mountain Resort.
Spokesperson Rosie Sundell says that an internet study found that out of the more than 250 people surveyed, 75% say their children wear a helmet. Also, 45% of adults participating in ski or snowboard activities say they use helmets as a safety precaution.
Sundell notes that the results are more favorable than the 2006 National Ski Areas Association National Demographic Study that reported that just 38% of children under the age of 13 and adults over the age off 55 are wearing helmets on the slopes.
Sundell says the results come as a pleasant surprise as helmet use is actively promoted by the Bear Valley Mountain Resort.
