Supervisors Unanimously Approve Geomatrix Engineering Contract

Sonora, CA — By a unanimous vote this morning, five Tuolumne County supervisors approved the proposed $65,771.80 contract for Geomatrix Engineering to determine how to rectify problems related to the closing of the Jamestown landfill.

CAO Craig Pedro admitted that it is a shame that this subject continues to be broached because of a failed attempt to properly close and seal the landfill in the past. At the same time he admitted that much has been learned and there is, indeed, light at the end of the tunnel for this exercise.

Pedro´s final comment, “We truly want to put this issue to bed once and for all and move on.”

Outgoing Board Chairperson Mark Thornton implored county staff to stay on top of every single issue throughout the Geomatrix Engineering analization process. Thornton stated, “We simply do not want nor can we afford any surprises down the line this time.”
