Sonora, CA — Officials with the Tuolumne Utilities District are asking residents of Tuolumne and Ponderosa Hills to continue water conservation measures until repairs are completed on the Eureka water ditch.
The district says a landslide caused by heavy rains over the New Years weekend washed out a 30 foot portion on the ditch, interrupting the water supply to those communities.
TUD says crews are diligently working to gain access to the site on Confidence Road and Cedar Springs Road near Twain Harte and stabilize the hill in the event of another storm.
A temporary road to the slide area is being constructed to enable heavy equipment and work crews to make the repairs and implement erosion control measures.
Residents are advised to be aware of large trucks and equipment on both Confidence and Cedar Springs Roads for the next four to six weeks.
Officials say the project may extend into mid-February.
