Sonora, CA — Area ski resorts are celebrating a bountiful gift from mother nature over the weekend.
Forecasters say a winter storm that passed through dropped about 18 inches of new snow in the mountains at altitudes as low as 3500 feet.
Dodge ridge is 100% open and in full operation. Officials say the storm was timed perfectly to coincide with today´s Martin Luther King holiday.
Clear and sunny skies are expected for today making for ideal skiing conditions. Forecasters say the system generated less than a half inch of rain in the valleys, however law enforcement officials say rapid rainfall was a factor in a big rig accident on Highway 99.
