Sonora, CA — Sheriff´s officials say the cause of death for a 43-year-man found dead in a cell at the Tuolumne County Jail should be known within a couple of days.
A jail staff member found the man at about 5:00 Friday afternoon after dinner. Responding medics performed CPR on the man while transporting him to Tuolumne County Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5:30. He was apparently alone in the cell at the time.
Officials say an autopsy was performed yesterday. The results of that autopsy have not yet been released.
The man was awaiting trial after being arrested on weapons charges and an outstanding warrant.
His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
