People’s Forum on National Parks Policy Rewrite Scheduled

Sacramento, CA — The National Parks Conservation Association is holding a People´s Forum on the controversial rewrite of the National Park Service´s Management Policies for the general public.

Park officials say in late August, the Department of the Interior´s draft rewrite of the policy was met with resounding public opposition. The agency then released a revised draft version in October.

The Park Service is hosting a public comment period on the proposed policy changes until February 18th. Public listening sessions on proposed changes have been held and are scheduled nationwide.

The National Parks Association is hosting this session to educate members of the public and the press about how the proposed changes could impact national parks in the region.

The forum is also expected to provide an opportunity for area residents to voice their concerns about the proposed changes. The meeting is scheduled for Monday February 6th at the State Capitol Building in Sacramento.
