Oakland, CA — The owner of the Oakland Athletics is talking with the commissioner of Major League Soccer about investing in an expansion team to replace the San Jose Earthquakes.
A´s owner Lew Wolff met with MLS Commissioner Don Garber Thursday to discuss ways to revive a professional soccer team in Silicon Valley.
The Earthquakes moved to Houston in December but the team´s name and logo will stay in the San Francisco Bay area.
Garber also met with San Jose city officials and the fan group Soccer Silicon Valley to come up with a plan to relaunch the team here.
Garber had previously said an expansion team could be placed in San Jose by 2007, but he has since backed away from that estimate
