Sacramento, CA — The Forest service may be looking at selling small parts of forestland to go toward helping fund states and counties that have been affected by the loss of money due to lower timber harvests on federal lands.
According to officials, if the plan is approved the profit of selling the unused or unproductive land would estimate a total of $800 million in sales.
On February 28th the Forest Service will be requesting public comment in the Federal Register about the issue.
