Murphys, CA — Murphys residents will soon be paying more for sewer service.
Last week the Murphys Sanitary District board approved a plan that would raise customer´s monthly rates over the next five years.
The current rate of $24 will reach $41 by 2010. It will jump to $37 on April 1 then up in one dollar increments every year.
The charge for a new connection will also go up from $5,000 to $10,000.
Interim General Manager Gary McGeorge said the increase would pay for capital improvements to the district´s ageing infrastructure.
