Sacramento, CA — State Controller Steve Westly has a commanding financial lead over Treasurer Phil Angelides in the Democratic race for governor.
Records released this week show the multimillionaire and former eBay executive has more than $23 million cash on hand. Of the nearly $30 million Westly has raised so far, most of it, $22.5 million, has come from his personal fortune according to his campaign. As of last week, he had $8.4 million dollars more than Angelides in the bank with less than three months to the June sixth primary election.
Records indicate that Angelides spent nearly $6 million between January first and March 17th, more than twice the $2.4 million raised from his supporters.
