Spring Showers Bring More Snow To Sierra Nevada

Sonora, CA — Rain and snow will begin spreading across the Mother Lode late tonight.

Snow levels will stay relatively high in the Sierra Nevada at 6,000 feet or above. Gusty winds of 40 to 50 mph are possible in the higher elevations Friday.

The National Weather Service says another batch of rain and now is expected to move through the region Saturday.

Snow levels could fall to 3,000 feet with accumulations of more than a foot of new snow over the Sierra between tonight and Saturday.

People planning travel in the mountains this weekend should be prepared for possible winter driving conditions.
