Valley Springs, CA — Developers in Valley Springs have joined forces to pay for an expensive community plan update.
With the county looking at updating its General Plan, several major landowners in Valley Springs have formed an LLC called the Friends of Valley Springs. Its main purpose is to pay for the Valley Springs portion of the plan update. All of the landowners have residential and commercial developments that are in the works.
That General Plan was last updated in 1996. The Valley Springs Community Plan was done in 1974.
Group organizer and local engineer Dave Tanner says the county is not in a financial or staffing position to take care of the plan on its own.
He says he contacted the developers and enticed them to participate by saying it would help keep their projects moving forward.
Tanner says the county will still be in charge of the plan and hiring someone to write it. The developers are simply paying for it up front.
