Sonora, CA — Daylight Saving Time officially arrives this weekend.
The changeover is actually 2AM Sunday, April 2 , so you want to move that clock ahead one hour before retiring on Saturday evening. Daylight Saving Time will come to an end on October 29th.
This is in accordance with the Eneregy Policy Act of 2005 signed by President Bush on August 8, 2005. This act changes the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. , hence DST starting on the second Sunday of March and ending the first Sunday of November.
The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of the change to Congress which retains the right to revert the DST changeover back to the 2005 schedule once the Department of Energy´s study has been completed.
Daylight Saving Time is the perfect time to remember to check the batteries in every smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm in your home while you set your clocks ahead. This will help protect your home from the dangers of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to the United States Fire Administration, the majority of deaths in homes with smoke alarms occurred where the alarms had dead or missing batteries.
